Paul's World Right Now

July in Texas has been one of the hottest on record. It's about to get even hotter. On 21 July, Paul will join his old friend, guitar legend Van Wilks, for a concert at Falconhead, in Lakeway, Texas. Van just returned from two months in France, touring in support of his latest album. This will be the first time the two friends have played together since Van's 2003 Virgin Islands Tour. They plan to return to the Caribbean on 28 August, 2005, to headline the Texas Society of the Virgin Islands Chili Cookoff on St. Thomas. This beloved, annual event has raised over $400,000 for island charities.

In February, 2005, Paul left his beloved Virgin Islands to be closer to family and friends. Now that his work is becoming more global in scale, he has come back to "The Mother Country" (Texas) and settled in Austin. He is already hard at work, producing several promotional DVDs, music videos and documentaries. This summer, he and the team will follow "Rock Camp Austin" and Austin School of music, proving ground for emerging young rockers.

Until the weekend of 10-11 December 2004, the last time Paul Cater Deaton and David Carradine had crossed paths was at a premiere screening of "Natural Selection" five years ago. David had starred in the picture, and Paul was the Key Grip. The screening fell on David's birthday. Five years later, one day after David's birthday, their paths crossed again. This time, it was in the musical arena. David and his band, "The Soul Dogs," came to St. Thomas to headline two concerts at the Hard Rock Cafe. Paul and his band, Category 5, opened for David.

January, 2005 - Paul has accepted the gracious invitation of the Boston Sea Rovers to screen his latest documentary, "LST-467: An Undersea Reunion," at the organization's 51st annual event. Paul has participated in the Sea Rovers events since 1996, and was inducted into the Sea Rovers last year. The show is scheduled for 4-6 March 2005 at the prestigeous Copley Plaza Hotel. See www.bostonsearovers.org for details.
